The Association of Anatomical Pathology Technologists (AAPT) was
founded in 2002 with the objective of representing APTs who work
in both hospital and Local Authority mortuaries. The AAPT is committed
to working with the appropriate authorities and organisations to
help develop and diversify the professional, educational and practical
standards for Anatomical Pathology Technologists.
At the outset, founding AAPT council members developed specific
objectives for the professional body in order to unify practice
nationally. One such objective was to pursue state registration
for APTs through the Health Professions Council (HPC). To achieve
this primary objective it was essential that a voluntary registration
scheme be implemented.
The AAPT will continue to work to raise the standard of Anatomical
Pathology and deceased patient care. |
