About Voluntary Registration Council    

The Voluntary Registration Council (VRC) is an organisation whose sole purpose is to lead non-regulated Healthcare Science professions who are Local Authority or NHS employees into statutory regulation via the Health Professions Council (HPC).

Regulation via registration is extremely important as a tool for ensuring that the public receive excellent services provided by professionals who are held accountable for their actions. In this way the sole aim of any registration process is to provide protection for the public.

VRC is currently comprised of seven membership groups:

Association of Anatomical Pathology Technologists (AAPT)

Association of Clinical Cytogeneticists (ACC) &
Clinical Molecular Genetics Society (CMGS)

Association of Ophthalmic Science Practitioners (AOSP)

British Association for Tissue Banking (BATB)

British Association of Retinal Screeners (BARS)

National Association of Cytologists (NAC)

Society of Critical Care Technologists (SCCT)
