BARS is an organisation for those primarily involved in providing
retinal screening services for people with diabetes. Diabetic retinopathy
remains one of the biggest causes of blindness in the under 65 age
group in the UK and retinal screening has been shown to be an effective
way to prevent or reduce visual loss from damage to blood vessels
in the eye.
The main aims of the organisation are to provide a continuing educational,
representational and support resource for those involved in screening
by using the internet and by the organisation of suitable conferences
and meetings. |
